2700 BC - The emperor, a figure of Chinese culture and mythology and a leading authority on agriculture and traditional medicine, discovered tea and a green plant of ancient use, whose consumption he quickly recommended. However, aware of its effects, Shen Nong warned about the plant: "Take a small dose and you will see spirits; take too much and you will be attacked by demons and walk like a madman." Curious as a cat, he died poisoned after trying an unknown plant. The Herbal Emperor's knowledge was compiled centuries later in a work that lists 365 medicinal herbs, the Classic of Materia Medica, in which this plant is classified as a fundamental herb.
